Question about controllers

Hi Folks, another dumb question... I have noticed on the Wii Virtual Console Channel, when looking at old games, it has an icon of the controller required for that game. I have always taken it at its word and not bought any of the old games because I only have the standard Wii controller.

So, how picky are these old games? I thought I'd be able to just turn my Wii controller side ways and use it like that. My TV and Wii are far from the couch and I'd hate to have to sit all up close just to tether myself to the Wii to use a special controller. Can anyone confirm that despite the recommended controller on the Wii VC channel, I can probably use a regular controller?

On most of the old games you can turn the controller I guess it depends on how old the game is and you really on use the controller it says you can if you go to Virtual Console at Nintendo :: Wii they have a chart that shows you what systems take what controllers my suggestion is to just get a gamecube controller and the extender mine came with a controller i bought im sure you could find on cheap since your wii and mine are far from the couch and it would be nice to use the wiimote for all of them
